Training for a Career as a Dental Technician

To be a Dental Technician you need:

• Excellent manual dexterity
• Artistic flair
• Good attention to detail
• Good eyesight and colour perception
• The ability to concentrate for long periods of time
• The ability to understand and interpret complicated technical instructions
• An interest and ability in science

To undertake an approved dental technology course you are likely to need:

• BTEC national diploma – four GCSEs (A-C) in English Language, mathematics and a science
• Foundation degree – one A level, as well as four GCSEs
• Degree – five GCSEs (A-C) plus two or three A levels
